About the Plan

Parks & Recreation Master Plan

The City of Carlsbad’s Parks & Recreation Department promotes health, wellness and social connections through a wide variety of public spaces and programs. To ensure these offerings continue to reflect the needs, values and priorities of the community, the department worked with the public to create a master plan. This plan has been used to make decisions about new park amenities, recreational programs and community center investments.

Eight years have passed since the plan was created, and now it’s time for an update.

How is the plan created?

A parks master plan evaluates all of the city’s existing parks and recreation programs, facilities and amenities, demographic trends, and industry best practices, then combines that information with feedback and ideas from the public.

The project is anticipated to be completed by April 2023.

Yes, this is a community-input driven process and the outcome and future recommendations will be driven by the needs and vision articulated by the community members.
